| Dear
Reader:
We
would like to take this
opportunity to introduce you
to The
Fountain, now in its
eighth year of publication.
Our guiding principle is that
the spread of scientific
education and a firm personal
grounding in religious belief
and values produces people
who, in this time of rapid
social change and increased
intercivilizational contact,
can foster social harmony and
understanding to the benefit
of all. Therefore, we focus on
recent scientific developments
and what they mean for us,
current social issues that
impact all of us on a daily
basis, and increased
understanding and acceptance
among people of different
cultural, religious, and
ethnic backgrounds.
We have spent the
last several years building a
wide readership throughout
Europe and Asia. We are now
launching our magazine in
America. America is an amazing
place, for it is the most
diverse country in the world.
Nowhere else can you find such
a mixture of people, as well
as levels of education and
wealth, races and
civilizations, the religious
and those without any
religion, coming into daily
contact with each other. That
this contact is not always
peaceful stems from a lack of
knowledge about “the
other” … what do
“they” want?, why are
“they” so irrational?, and
so on.
The
Fountain seeks to
participate in this great
human dialogue, to add its
voice to the call for an
ever-greater understanding and
acceptance of diversity. It
seeks to remind people that
scientific knowledge and
religious belief are not
incompatible, but that when
joined together, they produce
balanced individuals who live
in harmony with and respect
those with different beliefs
and worldviews.
The
Fountain is filled with
refreshing points of view,
informative scientific
articles and varying opinions.
And the very best part: The
Fountain is not a product of a
commercially driven entity.
Hence, The Fountain Magazine
is a forum that is
unencumbered by corporate
pressures. Its purpose is to
inform and aid in bringing
people with different
interests together without
pressure and without bias.
Come join us, will you. You'll
be glad you did.

Dear
Editor,
I was recently introduced to
The Fountain, and want to
express my thoughts and
feelings about it. The first
article I read was Fethullah Gülen's
“Forgiveness.” To be
honest, I was surprised to see
such an article. Not a lot of
attention is given to this
important topic. Even though
we all think we know what it
means to forgive, we don’t
really think about it in
depth. This article sums up
what it means to forgive and
be forgiven. I would like to
thank Gülen for writing this
article, and The Fountain for
publishing it. I hope we can
all learn to forgive at times,
even if we can’t forget. I
look forward to reading the
up-coming issues and I wish
you luck in your work. Is it
possible to obtain the past
issues of The Fountain?
Yours sincerely,
Amy Sinclair, London, UK |

| Dear
Sir/Madam,
After
I read your April-June issue,
I decided that this magazine
really fills the spaces in our
hearts (well, at least mine.)
I am kind of bored with the
anti-trust case against
Microsoft and the latest
unexpected increase of the US
unemployment rate. I want to
free myself from this
exhausting everyday life and
feel like I am somewhere in
between heaven and Earth. When
I wake up on a weekend
morning, I want to read
articles like the one about
forgiveness in this issue. I
want to remember how
satisfying it feels to forgive
others. I want to remember how
crucial it is that we allow
ourselves to be forgiven is at
times. I want to remember that
we are all human beings that
can fall into sin and need
forgiveness and vice versa. I
really thank you for reminding
your readers about the
importance of living and the
happiness it brings us. We owe
you a lot, and I hope that
your magazine reaches the
place it deserves in this wild
world of media.
Yours truly, Freda

| Dear
Editor,
My
congratulations on the
Alphonse Williams article in
the April issue of The
Fountain. Not only was its
content excellent, but its
scope will allow us to enlarge
the religious dialogue beyond
the field of the Abrahamic
religions. I hope that similar
initiatives will find their
place in larger and more
popular publications so that
more people will learn about
the common grounds of
different faith communities.
Sincerely yours,
Tariq Meynen, Belgium |
